Leadership Is Not For You
KEY POINTS FROM THE VIDEO
“The Legacy Crisis”
Leadership is always about more than what’s happening now; it must also be concerned with creating the future.
But most leaders are notoriously shortsighted.
To fix this, counterintuitively, we begin to recognize that leadership is always more about what we leave behind (our legacy) than what we actually see happening in the moment.
Leadership Is Not For You
Leadership is for those that follow you.
Without followers you are not a leader; you’re just an explorer.
The 4 Things Followers Need
- TRUST (honesty, integrity, respect)
- COMPASSION (caring, happiness, friendship, love)
- STABILITY (security, strength, support, peace)
- HOPE (direction, faith, guidance)
(Please buy the fabulous Strengths Based Leadership by Tom Rath and Barry Conchie to learn more about the last 4 ideas.)

Josh,
Strengths-Based Leadership is a great book! I did a presentation on this before and it went over well. Keep going!
