sunshine juice

Nothing incredibly long or insightful today, but I thought I’d share a couple things.

I came across an article yesterday that actually gave me some hope amidst our current energy crisis/meltdown and wanted to share it:

IT’S SOLAR POWER’S TIME TO SHINE
by Jon Markman

Sounds great to me! Here’s hoping some short-sighted idiot baby boomer doesn’t start shooting it down.

One more thought for the day.

I don’t know if you’re a writer, musician, or creative person, but if you share that particular illness with me, you know how we often have a tendency to wait around for “that special moment” when “it” hits us and we are in the “place” — mentally, spiritually, emotionally, whatever — to create art. This phenomena is what led to the rise of terminology like “writer’s block.” And to an extent, I think it’s accurate; sometimes we just aren’t “feeling it,” whatever “IT” is.

But the more I grow, as a human being and as an artist, the more I’m realizing that inspiration usually comes… when I go looking for it. Not always, but often.

If I am not feeling particularly creative, many times I can jump-start those juices by pulling the trigger — by sitting down at the piano, pulling out the guitar, or by just starting to write a new blog entry.

Like I said; nothing huge or universe-altering today. But if you’re an artist — or someone who cares about the future of the planet ;-) — be encouraged.

And, to quote Jon Stewart, a moment of Zen:

Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens. –Carl Jung

Solar energy may become a viable option. It’s still very costly to setup…with not a great enough return…but as long as I’m not paying a bunch (a $2 increase for a year would not be too bad, though we can guarantee it won’t be JUST a year), then we’re alright. It’d be nice if we weren’t legislated into this foxhole. Maybe Congress will do its job and give us the ability to drill for our own oil…and refine it.

I have been hearing some positive political murmurings about both drilling onshore and capping speculator nonsense in regards to oil prices lately… so maybe we’re making progress!
