LOST: Mystery Solved?

My good friend Blanchard posted a link to an absolutely fascinating website on his blog the other day.

Now, if you are a Lostie like me, you will probably have mixed feelings about this page. On one hand, we faithful LOST viewers have witnessed a lot of weirdness in the past 3.5 seasons and I am incredibly anxious for a theory that ties it all together. But on the other hand I have an intense distaste for spoilers of any kind; for some reason I like the visceral stomach flop and blinding impact of realization that comes with a good surprise.

Well, enough prologue. Onto the site in question… prepare thy mind to be blown:

How can John Locke walk on the island? Solved.
Why do pregnant women die on the island? Solved.
Where did the Others come from? Solved.

Watching now with people who haven’t read this makes me feel like I know so much more than them, even if it turns out to not be true…

Yeah, it’s pretty darn creepy. A few more:

Why people can’t “leave” the island.
Desmond’s knowledge of the future.
How the Black Rock got there.
Why there’s such a HUGE conspiracy. (That one’s bugged me since Season 4 started.)

I’ve had an idea for awhile now that at some point in the show the flash-forwards will actually “catch-up” to real time, but now I think the role of time must play a much bigger role in what’s going on…

From what I understand, the rest of this season is about them getting off the island. Season 5 is about what happens when they are off the island. Season 6 is about what happens when they get back to the island.

So, I also believe time will also “catch up” to them. It will be interesting to see what “time” it is at the end of the whole series.

Huh? What? You guys have LOST me! I still enjoy the show even though I don’t have a clue about what’s really going on. ha ha Good thing John lives down the street and gets to explain things from time to time:)

Haha, as much as I wish Blanchard were here with me to discuss ridiculous theories, I am glad he’s there to help you, Christi. ;-) It’s probably best, this way… we wouldn’t get anything DONE otherwise.

John, did you hear those theories about season themes somewhere or is that just what you’re thinking??

March 26, 2008 6:14 pm

John Blanchard

I’m not sure where I originally read about the themes, but I am pretty sure it was from Damon and Carlton themselves.

hmmm…. interesting theory. its been obvious since season 3 at least that time “bending” plays a major role in the whole mystery. i feel like there are a couple holes in the theory (though i really don’t have the time to go through and make a systematic argument of them.) one that just floated to mind is the whole “where the hole is” idea. the whole black rock loaded with magnetic minerals seems just a bit ridiculous anyway, but didn’t desmond SAIL to the island? that would imply that he entered not through some tear that the flying-black-rock and the chopper both allegedly traveled through. yeah, time travel does and will play a big part, but as for this particular theory… don’t think so.

Hey Ben! Thanks for stopping by to give your two cents. I don’t care what they say, your thoughts are worth at least THREE cents.

Yeah, there are definitely some “holes” in his theory (small pun intended), but there sure are a lot of things he postulates that make a lot of sense to me!
